A repository with many .png images of all characters
This is the only repository with real images that exists on the internet and I made it myself manually. For those that are impatient, just scroll down to the bottom of the text and you'll find the link to download it. For those that want to know the interesting story behind it, please keep reading (it's a short text).
Are you a student of AI, ML, DL, etc? If you are, then you've come to the right place. Here you will find plenty of image files of characters to feed into a neural network so it may train and learn.
I have created this because I searched (very hard, by the way) for something similar when I was creating my first neural networks and OCR programs but I was unable to find it. I only found repositories with images in mathematical formats like vectors. I didn't find any that had real images in .jpeg, .png or .bmp format. So I decided to make it myself, I had to do it all manually, it took me months just to make the letters. I would type them on LibreOffice Writer and then take a screenshot and edit the image on GIMP. I had to make them one at a time.
Each character has its own folder with 25 images. The fonts used to make the images were: aakar, Abyssinica SIL, AnjaliOldLipi, Chandas, Chilanka, DejaVu Sans, DejaVu Sans Mono, DejaVu Serif, Droid Sans Fallback, Dyuthi, FreeMono, FreeSans, FreeSerif, Gargi, Garuda, Gubbi, Jamrul, KacstArt, Liberation Serif, Loma, Kalimati, Liberation Mono, TlwgTypewriter, Purisa, Ubuntu. The images in each character's folder are in this respective order, excepting only a few letters that required special work.
All images are 100x100 pixels in width and height. Since all folders should contain 25 images, I had to repeat some fonts for some letters that required special work for having problematic shapes in certain font styles, like the letters 'I', 'i', 'l' and 'v'. I also had, in some few cases, to use fonts that are different from the ones listed above.
Right now it has all 26 letters of the English alphabet plus all 10 digits, I will be adding more characters over time (help would be much appreciated).
It's all here, just download and unzip it (please give me my due credit if you're gonna use it): https://drive.google.com/file/d/15UHLezeawW8s1UTXt0qxeoFolUcAvzVJ/view?usp=sharing
